2010 Charter Essay Contest PDF  | Print |  E-mail

On May 5th, 2010, the Center for School Change hosted the annual Charter Public School Essay Contest at the state capitol in St.Paul.  Over 650 essays were submitted by students from 20 different charter schools in Minnesota.  All of the essays were outstanding this year!

We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to:

  • Faculty and staff members at more than 20 different charter public schools who encouraged students to participate in this contest
  • Beth Topoluk and the TCF Foundation for providing financial support for the 2010 Minnesota Charter Public School Writing Contest.  This event would not be possible without their assistance.
  • Kelsey Austin-King, Bea Rendon, and Anna Roberds for all their help reading the essays and providing us with helpful input.
  • Bernie Steele, Facilities Support Manager, and all the staff members at the Minnesota State Capitol for all their help planning for this event.
  • The 650+ Minnesota charter public school student writers who submitted their essays and shared their ideas and insights.  You've reminded us that we all can learn listening to voices of our youth.
  • The may educators, family members, and friends who support and encourage these emerging young scholars, artists, and writers.

A link to the winning essays will be posted up soon.  Please come back for updates.

Here are pictures of some of the essay contest winners (please note these are not pictures of all the winners).  Pictures of all the winners will be posted up soon.  Please check back for updates!
