On May 7th, 2008, over 400 students, family members, and charter school
educators gathered on the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol to honor
35 students, ages 5-26, who were recognized for writing outstanding
essays about their schools. Specifically, charter school students were
asked to write essays in answer to one of these questions:
What would you like the next United States President to know about your public charter school?
What are one or two of the most important things that the President
could do to help students learn more and do better in school?
Over 900 students submitted essays to be judged in this year’s competition.
